Please bring the following documents for Florida title transfers:

  • Original Florida title properly completed by buyer(s) and seller(s)
  • All applicants (purchasers) for title must sign the initial Application for Florida Title (HSMV 82040) or be present in our office. If an applicant is unable to come in, he or she may provide a completed Power of Attorney (HSMV 82053) to the applicant visiting our office so that applicant may sign the application on the missing applicant’s behalf
  • Proof of Florida insurance, if applying for registration
  • U. S. Driver License, U.S. Identification card or valid passport for each owner (see below for additional information)
  • Plate number if transferring a Florida plate

Note: Bring current odometer reading and verify the VIN number on the title matches the VIN of your vehicle prior to your arrival.

*Transactions involving Trusts, repossession, towing and storage, or deceased persons will require additional documentation.

Vehicle Registration
Defines “valid passport”

As of September 23, 2024, customers filing an application for a vehicle registration must provide a valid driver license or identification card issue by the state of Florida or another U.S. State or territory, or a valid passport which is now defined as:
An unexpired passport or passport card issued by the United States government; or
An unexpired passport issued by the government of another country with:A stamp or mark affixed by the
United States Department of Homeland Security onto the passport to evidence and authorize lawful presence in the United States; or
An unexpired I-94 or current permanent resident card, or unexpired immigrant visa, issued by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
