Acceptable Proof of Identity for Vehicle Registrations
A valid REAL ID driver license or identification card issued by Florida or another state; a valid, unexpired U.S. passport; or a valid, unexpired foreign passport with an unexpired Form I-94.
Acceptable Proof of Street Address:
Registration requirements call for the street address of the owner’s permanent Florida residence or permanent place of business in Florida. A customer’s permanent residence or business street address listed on their registration application must be located within Florida. Currently the only exception is active- duty military stationed outside of Florida who want to maintain a Florida registration.
Driver License / Identification Card:
Please bring the following documents for issuance of a Real ID-compliant Florida Driver License or Identification Card. Be prepared to have your photo taken and your vision checked. If corrected lenses are required, please have them with you.
- Certified U.S. birth certificate or valid U.S. passport in current name
- If customer’s name has changed since birth, we need certified proof of legal name change(s) (certified marriage certificate, certified court order, etc). Documents must link birth record to current name.
- Social Security card or acceptable proof of number
- Social Security name change must be made at least 24 hours prior to visiting our office
- You cannot hold a license or ID in two states at once. Obtaining a Florida driver license or ID card will cancel any other state-issued license or ID. Standard document requirements must be met for all applicants, even if you already hold a Real ID compliant out-of-state driver license.
- Residential Address Requirements
The residential address for a Class E Florida license or ID card must be a Florida address. Two proofs of residential address are required. Each proof of residential address document must come from a different source.
