New State Driver License System Coming to Tax Collector’s Office

Scott Lunsford, Escambia County Tax Collector, announced the launch of a new State of Florida driver license issuance system. The new system is part of the Online Registration and Identity Operating Network (ORION). ORION will modernize the driver license issuance process and create new office efficiencies in Escambia County and across the state.

The Motorist Modernization initiative is a multi-year phased plan for re-engineering the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ (DHSMV) driver license and motor vehicle systems to create efficiencies in the Department’s work processes, enhance safety features for law enforcement agencies and streamline interactivity for customers now and into the future.

In partnership with the DHSMV, ORION will be introduced in stages in Escambia County. Each office will experience a brief service interruption during the switchover and testing process.

Please take note of the following service interruptions (subject to change):

  • Wednesday, March 17 – Marcus Pointe office will open at 1 PM – UPDATED DATE
