Attention Florida Hunters!
In June 2015, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission approved a limited bear hunt to take place beginning October 24, 2015 in four of the state’s seven Bear Management Units (BMUs). The purpose of reinstating a bear hunting season is to stabilize expanding bear populations in different parts of the state that are capable of supporting hunting.
According to the FWC, Florida’s largest land mammal has come back from just several hundred bears in the 1970s to more than 3,000 today and is one of Florida’s biggest conservation success stories.
