Janet Holley Receives Secretary of Defense Patriot Award!

Escambia County Tax Collector, Janet Holley, has been honored with the Secretary of Defense Patriot Award!

[Pensacola, FL] February 4, 2015 – Escambia County Tax Collector, Janet Holley was honored with the Secretary of Defense Patriot Award during a presentation from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This distinction is given by the US Government to an individual boss for support of her employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.

ESGR representative Timothy Lambert, accompanied by fellow representative Harry Thomas, presented Holley with a framed award and lapel pin. “I’m humbled to receive such an honor,” stated Holley. “We are proud to support the men and women who serve our country and work side by side with them in our office.”

While employed with Holley’s office and before departing to return to active duty, staff member Valeisa Jefferson nominated her tax collector boss for this commendation. In the recommendation she stated, “I highly recommend Ms. Janet Holley for the Patriot Award. As a Naval Reservist who has just been accepted into the Reserve Component Active Duty Program, Ms. Holley’s support of my career change has been overwhelming. Her care, concern, and support shown to me and to other Veterans employed here during my employment should be followed by other employers. There are currently 11 employees of the Escambia County Tax Collector’s office who are Veterans: 1 Air Force, 3 Army, 1 Marine and 6 Navy. Some of these Veterans, including myself, are actively drilling Reservists. Ms. Holley has accommodated us so we could meet our military obligations without any concern of losing our employment.”

Congratulations, Ms. Holley!!
